Inspired by the words of Chris Stapleton, “Starting Over”
The road rolls out like a welcome mat..
Pay attention to your instinct. Why do you ignore it? It leads your path. It’s your heart telling you the truth and your soul guiding your heart. It never lies. I’ve ignored it many times in my life and those are the moments that didn’t turn out that good. Some say logic and critical thinking are the best ways to live your life, I say my instinct taught me more on this journey. It gives me answers, it gives me hope, and it challenges me when I’m fighting a battle – which road should I take? Your first thought, that’s the road. Your first thought might not be what you want, but what you want isn’t always what you need. Follow me? You have a guiding light. Look at it, face it, and get y0ur answer.
We’ve been saving for a rainy day..
Why wait? Why save everything for the right moment when the right moment might be now. Have you ever found yourself thinking now isn’t the right time or I will do that next year or the next? Many times I’ve held back my wants for others, out of fear, or feeling I don’t have the means to do it. I’ve learned to take risks and the risks seem to turn out the best. I’ve said it before, I am not a planner. Sometimes I follow a feeling in the moment or accept an invitation I didn’t know I needed or receive correspondence from someone I was thinking about and it turns out meant to be. It’s funny how things happen when you think about it or don’t even know you need it. We can save for a rainy day for sure, but I chose to also do it right now.
Wherever we are is where I wanna be..
Living in the moment in today’s world is a struggle. There are pressures beyond our abilities, expectations that we can’t meet, and external stimuli that we cannot control. We find ourselves thinking the grass is greener per say on the other side and if we chose to go there, the grass might be higher than we can handle. It’s like that first cut in a yard that hasn’t been mowed when it should have been or that trip you took that was a little longer than planned. We sometimes want more, but fail to realize, what we have is perfect for us. Let’s be happy with what we have, let’s be thankful for who we have, and let’s be where we wanna be.. right here living in the moment and paying attention to our surroundings.
I can be your lucky penny, you can be my four leaf clover… starting over
They say opposites attract. I think that’s true. I think friendships lead us to people that are similar to us but love leads us to people who have a quality we don’t. if you think about it, don’t you find yourself relying on someone else when you are feeling insecure about something or you need someone to see the end result that you cannot see? We rely on each other, we balance each other out, we fight like cats and dogs because we hardly ever agree, but we really are lucky pennies and four- leaf clovers for someone else. I find myself thanking my four- leaf clover lately for everything he does. Because what he does, I cannot, and what I do, he cannot. That is priceless when starting over and that is priceless when you get lost and they give you direction.
This might not be an easy time..
Life’s road is hard. Take a breath. Breathe in deep for 4 seconds, hold it, and breathe out for 8 seconds. Do this for a minute or two and find yourself more relaxed than when you started. I don’t remember where I heard this technique of late, but I’ve been practicing it and I Put one foot in front of the other and try again feeling lighter. Try it. That old saying, “there’s light at the end of the tunnel,” there is but sometimes it can take time to see it. With patience and perseverance we must journey on to our light. It’s long and it can be hard to find it, but it’s worth it when you find it.
Let’s Continue Starting Over .. the road rolls out like a welcome mat, don’t always wait for a rainy day, be where you wanna be, be someone’s lucky penny, and it’s never an easy time.. .. . take in strides.
XO,
Alison
